Having your first Caviar Tasting Party can be a daunting task but enjoyable if done correctly. There are many things including the etiquette of caviar that must be adhered to for this to be a successful event. The things you need to consider are the serving utensils, the accompanying dishes, the drinks that will be served and of course which type of caviar should you have on hand.

As a suggestion since the spoons needed to serve the caviar must be special, meaning made of anything but metal, try having a different type of spoon for each of the caviar you present. This is the easiest way your guest can then identify them. Wooden, mother of pearl, porcelain, bone and horn are some of the materials that would be appropriate for the spoons to be made out of.

The drinks that you will be serving should never have an overpowering flavor to them. The spotlight has to remain on the caviar, so do not distract from it. Champagne and sparkling wine are the preferred choices at most caviar parties. A lite crisp white wine could also pair well but no not forget to have water available to those that desire to only taste the pure essence of the caviar. All of the beverages no matter what it is, should be chilled properly.

Now we move on to the star of the event, the caviar. Most people are well aware of the beluga caviar and its very high price, but there are many others that can be served that are just as appealing. The Russians are just now releasing their new varieties that is farm sturgeon roe. While not wild, it is a necessary move to help preserve the species from dying out. It is worth a try. Other Russian varieties include Sevruge and Ossetra

The American caviar varieties have also made significant followings for its incredible taste and low price. This can be from American sturgeons or even their cousin the paddle fish. There is also another gaining in popularity and that is the salmon roe. While not being g true caviar, it has a delicate flavor and many different varieties to choose from add to a wider selection for your presentation.

When serving your caviar make sure it is properly chilled and has ice round the can or jar to keep it at this lower temperature. Always serve it in the container it was package in so the eggs are not damaged and can be enjoyed whole by your guest.

One last item for your first caviar tasting party is to only use plain crackers. The essence of the caviar will not be enhanced with flavored crackers. While they might go good with cheese parties, that is their limit.
